Internship program

We love a good
learning curve.

Career Internships

Get your foot and your ideas in the door.

Our interns don’t do grunt work. Our interns are paid, lead complex projects, and have the tools they need to succeed during the four-month program. We have strong values here that apply to our interns as well: explore, test, fail, and grow.

“I get entrusted with tasks of varying difficulty and I’m encouraged to learn, knowing that the rest of my team is there to fall back on if there’s anything I’m unfamiliar with or unsure of.”

- Sharon

QA Intern

“it was nice to have an interviewer take an interest in my personal projects and even in my projects/hobbies, which really reflects Diff in that it feels like a community where people share their interests with the team and go on outings together and do more than just their everyday jobs.”

- Laura

Front-end developer

Let’s help you engineer your future.

Back in 2016, we started up an internship program in partnership with Concordia University. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most innovative and talented Concordia students from all corners of the world. In many ways, our interns are what keep us ticking. We help them improve their technical skills, and they help us develop our leadership skills.

FAQ

Who can apply?

Our interns are undergraduate students entering the Computer Science or Software Engineering programs at Concordia University in Montreal who alternate between work terms and study terms.

Are interns paid?

Interns get more than just free snacks (although they get those too). They are paid and enjoy all of the perks that come with working here: onsite life coaching, yoga classes twice a week, boot camp, monthly company outings and more.

When are interns hired?

We hire interns during the summer and winter semesters for four-month internships. Applications open about five months in advance of a term and interviews are held within three months of the start date.

How do you apply?

If you’re a Concordia student, you can apply to diff through Compass, Concordia’s internal resource service. There, you’ll get a better idea of what we do, what we’re looking for, what you can expect if you work with us and, of course, how to apply. Compass also has many resources for you to use, like how to write cover letters and CVs and how to handle yourself in an interview.

How do interns fit within the team structure?

We assign each intern to a pod with a team lead. In the first two to three weeks of the program, you get the full rundown of company procedures, the languages used, and the kinds of situations that you may encounter on a day-to-day basis. You also have the chance to create a mini mock website to help you learn the essentials.

What type of projects are given to interns?

Real projects. Important projects. We treat interns the way we would any other employee. We won’t throw you into the deep end. You’ll be guided by people who are passionate about creating immersive online shopping experiences, making stuff and solving difficult problems.

What positions are available for interns?

Currently, we hire interns for front-end, back-end, and quality assurance positions. However, internship opportunities vary depending on our needs, so keep an eye out.

What do you look for?

We look for people who speak up and work that speaks for itself. We know talent when we see it and we love working with interns who aren’t afraid to ask questions, make mistakes, have opinions, offer ideas, and roll up their sleeves to get things done.

Not a Concordia student? Not a problem.

We’d love to hear what you’ve been up to and how we can play a role in your development.
