DeSerres is a leading Canadian retailer of art supplies, known for its wide selection of high-quality products and its commitment to inspiring creativity in artists of all levels. To better serve its customers and enhance its online presence, DeSerres embarked on a project to completely redesign its e-commerce platform and migrate to Shopify Plus, aiming to create a more engaging and seamless online experience.

Driven by a desire to better serve its artistic community and elevate its online presence, DeSerres embarked on an ambitious project to completely redesign its e-commerce platform and migrate to Shopify Plus. The core challenge was to create a more engaging and intuitive user experience, including improved browsing of hundreds of color options and increased site speed, while supporting a large product catalog (25k+ SKUs) and increasing mobile conversion rates. Additionally, streamlining operations with massive integrations was crucial for enabling better client service for B2B customers and providing tools for managing and planning promotions.

Our Strategic Approach

To address DeSerres' challenges and achieve its goals, we developed a creative and customer-centric Shopify Plus experience focused on enhancing the user interface, streamlining operations, and providing a seamless omnichannel experience.

Complete Redesign with Enhanced UX/UI: We undertook a total redesign of their platform, creating a visually appealing and intuitive user experience. This included a new product detail page (PDP) with enhanced color selection options, making it easier for customers to browse and select from hundreds of color variations.

Customized Account Interfaces for B2B & B2C: Customized account interfaces were developed to provide a more personalized and efficient experience for both B2B and B2C customers. This allows customers to easily manage their orders, track their purchases, and access exclusive content tailored to their specific needs.

Seamless Omnichannel Integration: An in-store pickup option was implemented, allowing customers the convenience of purchasing products online and picking them up at their local DeSerres store. This integration enhances the omnichannel experience, bridging the gap between online and physical retail.

Improved Information Architecture (IA) & Discoverability: A total UX review of the website's information architecture (IA) was conducted to ensure seamless navigation and product discoverability. This strategic improvement makes it easier for customers to find the products they need and explore new creative possibilities, enhancing their overall journey.

Virtual Shopify Gift Cards Integration: Virtual Shopify gift cards were integrated, providing customers with a convenient and flexible gifting option. This not only expands DeSerres' revenue streams but also provides customers with a valuable service, increasing brand loyalty and accessibility.
